Preview of Marks & Spencer Autumn Winter Collection 2014

Just as I am excited about the change of weather in Dubai after a heavy sandstorm last week that signals the coming of winter, the people in the fashion community here are looking forward to see the new season trends.

I had the privilege to preview Marks & Spencer Autumn Winter 2014 line in a grand thematic fashion show "London Calling" held at the Waldorf Astoria The Palm Jumeirah Dubai last September 17.
London's beauty and contemporary sophistication set the stage to present the new collection. It was highly attended by a very fashionable crowd and members of the media.

The women's wear collection was divided in to five key trends

Gentle Women - Luxurious cashmere and wool layers in powder pastels set the tone with printed silks and injection of colorful faux fur creating a vivid tactile contrast. This sumptuous fabrication is match by intensely feminine hues creating a modern lady-like direction

Modernist - Minimal separates are graphically punctuated by block color in a dynamic print new direction. Striking primary highlights gives a sculptural shapes a bold update

The Arts - A rich collage of tone and fabrication build a dramatic textural landscape decadent embellishment and moody blooms meet blanket checks and statement faux fur in a collision of opulence

Downtown - Playful pastel offset with textured metallic create a chic mod-esque aesthetic.Iconic shapes are given a feminine overhaul in blush tones and cornflower blue. Vivid jaquard and high shine layers provide a striking modern edge

This lace dress is a crowd pleaser and my personal favorite.

Simple Lux - A purist exploration of luxury sees soft construction and chic tailoring meet in a minimal take on sophistication. Deep russet and warm grey create a sleek tonal backdrop with a subtle masculine sensibility.
