Churros, Guacamole, Mariachi, Maracas, Cinco De Mayo and more...

Cinco de Mayo is an important milestone in Mexican history as it celebrates the Battle of Puebla, when a small contingent of Mexican soldiers led by General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated Napoleon's formidable army.

To commemorate this historic event, Rosa Mexicano has prepared a special set menu from chicken empanadas, Shrimp Enchiladas to Mexican street corn. It was indeed a night of gastronomic fair.

The evening celebration was graced by the presence of Mexican Consul to the UAE HE Mr. Arturo Rueda.

We not only get to enjoy delicious and authentic Mexican food, we were also serenaded by the mariachi band with lively Mexican music.

Moving on with the food..

I LOOOVVEEE AVOCADOS!!!!

I don't know how I can stress that enough. Not only it taste good, it is also one of the healthiest fruit on earth. It is good for your skin, your hair and your nails. Eating avocados can improve your overall health, trust me. OK fine you can google it now.:D

But I have a confession to make first.

Guacamole is a dip I like the least for my nachos, unfortunately. Yeah that's a fact but not until I had my guacamole prepared fresh in front of me.

And because of them, I am now a convert.

Totally love the guacamole this gent has prepared for us and served it on a stone pestle where he mixed it with fresh tomatoes, onions, jalapeno and cilantro. Simple yet delicioso and I can't stop dipping and nibbling, seriously. I can have it all day.

The Acapulco Shrimps Ceviche plays a tag of war in my mouth with sweet-spicy-savoury taste and then dance in a medley with the salty nachos combined. My palate is telling me it's not a hit but it wasn't bad either.

Rosa Mexicano's signature drink Frozen Pomegranate Margarita was so refreshing and did I tell you the passion fruit mojito rocks!!!

For the main course, I ordered Mixtas Fajitas. It's a trio of succulent meats of chicken, beef and shrimp served with warm tortillas, rice and mashed beans on the side. For the toppings there's guacamole, sour cream and shredded cheese.

It is a big serving hence good for sharing. You can also eat it deconstructed like I did.

For chicken lovers, my friend Neelofer highly recommends Pollo Pibil. I haven't tasted it but by the looks of it, I'm sure I'm gonna love it too. Who doesn't like a good grilled chicken in a bed of spiced rice and roasted sweet peppers eh? This is a sure hit for my kids.

The dishes that I've tried are just a fraction of their extensive menu but it was a good start and will definitely put them on my list of highly recommended restaurants in Dubai.

Dessert arrived in a pink paper bag and cake swimming in heavenly chocolate sauce.

Shaken in the bag before popping out and poured on a plate, still warm and coated with sugar waiting to be dipped in its sauces of chocolate, caramel and raspberry guajillo.

If your Churros, you got to order this one. It is Mexico's traditional doughnuts, be warn though, it's quite heavy but for heaven sake, it's dessert so doughnut dare not to try!

For a minute, I have forgotten that I'm on a diet but I'm gonna die if I don't dunk my fork in this luscious banana chocolate chip cake.

Ok enough of the food porn. This is food lust overload already. Sorry to make you hungry though, I am salivating too.

Rosa Mexicano is at the lower ground level of Dubai Mall. The restaurant has a warm feel with high ceiling, good lighting, colorful decor and red leather chairs.

Service was fast and the staffs are polite, overall ambiance is good. If you are craving for some Mexican food, I highly recommend Rosa Mexicano at the Dubai Mall.
