This post is already rotting in my drafts, but still I want to share to you guys the result of the event so here it is! kisses
October 22 Friday, the day that I have been waiting for, the day I am going to run my first ever 5k (kilometers) race. Though mentally prepared, the physical state continue to disagree, I have been sneezing and coughing the last week before the race after absorbing all airborne viruses circulating in our air conditioned room that affected each throats and nostrils therein, not to mention the change in the weather, it seems that winter is here soon as the thick fog blankets Dubai earlier this week.
High spirited as I could ever be, not only that I have registered and pay the registration fees, I pushed myself into this as I want to keep that motivation to be fit and healthy. This is also an all women event organized under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein wife of HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai which I don't want to miss.
I am up at 6 am, I get ready and off we headed to Al Mamzar beach. When we reach the last R/A towards the START, the police would not let us in, maybe because the parking is full so we have to opt for the nearest parking lot available. We had to walk for 10 minutes to get to the START. Finally, already sweating and warmed up, we have reached where the stage has been set up. The announcer from a radio station was giving few reminders. Few minutes later, he introduced the Fitness First ladies for a quick warm up. Another warm up that almost exhaust some runners, although it's fun to follow those moves.
The warm up lasted for more or less 10 minutes, finally the countdown started and the signal was given, TOOOOOOT, that's the signal to run. Here we go!
I stayed in the middle of the pack and started running, I kept running while the thinning number of runners is passing by me and some behind. "Run on your pace", I kept reminding myself, "but don't get left behind." So I ran as much as I could, maybe as far as 800-900 meters then I needed to stop feeling I could not breathe anymore, from there I couldn't remember how many times I ran and walk alternately. My aim was to finish the race not to faint, I have to take it easy, it was my first time, and after all it is a fun run. Goodnews, I did finish the run at 50:18 minutes, when I reached the Finish line, I was given a bronze medal and all runners got one and some goodies from the sponsors, I got discount vouchers at Mandara Spa, Forever 21, Liali Jewelry to name a few.

ReplyDeleteLovely blog. Travelling has always been my passion and dream especially sports. Although I am a big fan of the UAE, I feel out-dated when reading interesting posts like this.
