While I was booking our hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan for our vacation last July, I asked my friend who owned a travel agency and also arranged the airline flights and guided tours for us, to give me several options. As thorough as I know he is, he came up with some of the luxurious hotels as well as cheap / budget hotels in Puerto Princesa for me to choose from. I know that we will be mostly out and about exploring so budget hotels are a great option for me. It was a family trip with my mother-in-law (MIL) so I wanted a budget hotel without compromising the cleanliness, location, comfort, and service for our 3 days 2 nights stay.
I read good reviews about Casitas De Az Pension that's why I didn't hesitate to give it a go.
We landed at Puerto Princesa International Airport at 2:30 in the afternoon via Philippine Airlines.
It was our second time flying with Philippine Airlines and the first time on a domestic flight and was not disappointed. In fact, the crew and the captain were all very professional. We landed safely despite a quite cloudy weather condition
Manong driver with our van service from the hotel was already waiting for us outside the airport. We were so excited to explore Puerto Princesa and it was so nice to see the city with our own eyes for the very first time. It did not take long to reach the hotel. It's located 10 minutes away from the Puerto Princesa International Airport and 10 minutes from the city center. It was a pretty decent property. It was off-peak season but surprisingly, the place was full.
Check-in was quick and easy. The staff was helpful, nice, and friendly except that they needed to smile often.
We were given a large family room with three double beds, a large bathroom with hot and cold showers, AC was working fine, there was a TV set, a walk-in closet, and a dining table right outside our door. We were also informed upon check-in that we can have clean drinking water from the reception if we need it. Wifi is available but accessible in the corridors and not inside the rooms.
This is one of the three double beds in our family room.
One for my MIL, one for the kids supposedly, and one for me and Ferald. Prince insisted to sleep beside me and his dad so Mica had the bed to herself and had a good night's sleep.
What I love most about this accommodation was its well-manicured garden in the courtyard, giving us all the reasons not to stay indoors.
The property is clean and well maintained and every corner is picture perfect
It has its own Thai restaurant on the second floor where we had our complimentary breakfast every morning before our tours
You can also ask to be seated al fresco on the balcony with a view of the hotel courtyard
Their breakfast menu has at least 5 to 6 options. Consists mostly of 2 sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. Ferald and I like their huevos rancheros and order them every day.
Overall, we were satisfied with our chosen home away from home in Puerto Princesa.
On the last day at the hotel, we were late for the airport drop-off because we tried to squeeze in one more activity to our itinerary, and no regrets about deciding to go for it at the last minute as it was worth it. The hotel staff called me to check where we are because the van service that will take us to the airport was already there. We came in a rush but the good thing was we already packed our things so we just have to load everything in the van. The staff helped us with loading and bade us goodbyes with warm smiles.
If you are looking for a cheap/budget hotel, be sure to check them out.
